Large office move can be a complicated challenge.

Large office move can be a complicated challenge.

At Bird’s Moving and Storage, we love repeat customers.

Our teams have been part of several Niagara families’ and businesses’ lives, travelling with them as they have grown, changed, outgrown their homes or offices, and moved to new locations.

It’s not unusual for our planning teams to work with the same people more than once – we love that our clients feel a loyalty to us based on a previous job well done.

Recently, we had the pleasure to work with a large corporate client – the YMCA of Niagara – which moved one, large office with 35 staff members into two, new locations. They employed our services on their previous move many years ago, and were happy with how we organized and executed that relocation.

As far as office moves go, this current YMCA move was a little more complicated than most! Although we can’t explain to you exactly how this office move was accomplished, we can share some information that might make planning your own office move a little easier.

Due to our planning and organization methods, we feel Bird’s has a well refined system in place over the competition – which often serves us so well, we get the same clients on all of their next moves!

Bird’s planning experts have devised methods that work perfectly in tandem with each other for organizing all commercial type moves, whether they are small offices or large corporations.

A successful office move is a matter of organization and communication, from the time you learn the move is happening, until the time you welcome your staff back into your new location.

The quote for your office move will be provided after a visual consultation has been completed. There are different pricing set up depending on the needs of the relocation, which is why an on-site consultation must be completed.

Once your business has accepted our quote, our Bird’s team moves into the planning phase. We’ll schedule an education pre-move meeting, with the dos and don’ts of packing and other information. We have numerous methods for utilizing packing materials and teach you how to pack sensitive equipment, too.

The pre-move meeting with the main move contact from your company and all of your staff will alleviate the majority of questions about preparation for the upcoming move. We highly recommend one person as a main point of contact between Bird’s and your company, and a minimum of 1, maximum of 2 of your employees on site on the day of the move for any questions or decisions that may arise.

Our planning team representative(s), will typically be on site working along with the crew members during the actual relocation.

Once your cartons or bins arrive for packing, it will be time to start filling them up. We typically utilize 2 cubic foot cartons or 2.8 cubic foot commercial bins to allow for the most optimal pack experience.

A question we often get from our office move clients is: “How many days will our move take?”

Based on the items in your office, your relocation area and our own experience, Bird’s planning team will know exactly how many people to put on our team; how many trucks to book; and in turn, how many days the move will take.

When it came time for moving day at the YMCA, we planned for two days, and everything was executed as it had been organized, even being ahead of schedule!

Here’s where we give a shout-out to our hard-working staff: Thank you for making an in depth move with many moving parts look simple. A job well done!

The last piece of information we can add to our office move story is how it is charged to our client. We typically charge commercial company moves rather than set them as COD.

Once all of the above has been accounted for, it means the moving phase is complete, and you can start growing into your new space with confidence, excitement and a minimum of down time.

So, the next time you’re ready for a move, Bird’s expert staff will be there to make it happen. Because we really do love repeat customers!
